Insight: Natomas Levee - Now that a major roadblock to completion of critical levee repairs in Sacramento's Natomas basin has cleared - President Barack Obama signed the Water Resources Reform and Development Act into law last week - how soon could building begin there and are there any plans underway to do start? We'll talk with Councilwoman Angelique Ashby about the issue. She lives in Natomas and represents the district. She also attended the signing in Washington D.C.
Pools Care during Drought - As California deals with a critical drought, swimming pools are under increased scrutiny by homeowners, local governments and even water agencies. But many swimming pools actually use less water than a similar-size lawn. And if the pool is properly maintained, less water will be used. Placer County Water Agency officials are urging pool owners to check for leaks, install a pool cover, shut off fountains and waterfalls, and take other steps in order to save as much water as possible.
Donna Reads - Duane Allman was arguably one of the finest rock/blues guitarists in the genre. His daughter didn't know him. She was two when he died. He was only 24. But she wrote about him in a book called, "Please Be With Me." CapRadio Reads and Donna Apidone will host Galadrielle Allman's visit to Sacramento next month, and Donna is here today.
The Submission - Big Idea Theatre's latest production is getting rave reviews. "The Submission" by Jeff Talbott is about a playwright who misrepresents himself to get his complex new drama about an African-American family struggling to leave the projects produced. We'll talk with actors Joshua Robertson and Benjamin Ismail - who is also the artistic director of Big Idea Theatre -- about the play and we'll hear a scene.
